Our Process & Sourcing
Designed on Country, built for real life, and flat-shipped to bypass waste. Discover how we make conscious children's gear for the country way of living.
01 The design
Cozie Dozie Co. was not dreamed up in a corporate city design studio. Our story began right here on Country ground in Mount Larcom, Central Queensland, out of a mother's real-life need to create a portable, sensory-safe space for her children.
Faced with the reality of neurodivergent family life and a lack of flexible regional childcare, our founder Emma James-Skey set out to create a flexible floor lounger that didn't rely on plastic bean bags or flimsy mass-produced bedding sets.
Every stitch, button, and pocket size is calculated based on a mother's intuition and real-life testing in regional backyards, campdrafts, and living rooms.
02 The materials
We believe that the products we give to our children should be gentle on their skin and kind to Country. We intentionally avoid cheap, virgin synthetics, prioritising high-quality recycled textiles that are built to last the long haul.
Every material in a Cozie Dozie product has been chosen for how it feels on a child's skin, how it performs in the real world, and what it means for Country when the product eventually reaches the end of its life.

Recycled Polyester Blanket Fill
Our detachable top blankets are padded with 100% soft-touch recycled polyester fill, giving old plastics a brand-new, cosy purpose.
03 The fill at home model
The most unique part of the Cozie Dozie process is what happens when your order leaves our hands. Every Joey and Buck lounger is intentionally posted to your door completely flat, as a cover only.
Shipping pre-filled furniture or bulky bedding across regional Australia is a massive driver of transport carbon emissions and creates exorbitant postage fees for small businesses. By shipping flat, we dramatically minimise transportation bulk, keep our carbon footprint tiny, and pass the savings straight on to you through free Australia-wide shipping.
SHIPPING WITH PURPOSE
When your cover arrives, you take the final step in our manufacturing process, upcycling materials you already own.
How it works — at home
01
Order arrives flat
Your Joey or Buck arrives as a flat cover in a slim satchel. Lightweight. Fast to ship. Free to post.
02
Gather your fill
Grab standard pillows, foam cut to 50cm × 66cm, or mattress topper offcuts from around the house.
03
Fill & go
Slide one item per pocket, done in under two minutes. Roll it up, carry it anywhere.
04 Small Batch
We do not mass-produce our gear in faceless factories. Cozie Dozie Co. operates on a mindful, small-batch manufacturing scale. This ensures that every press stud is secure, every piece of heavy-duty Velcro is perfectly placed, and our quality remains uncompromising.
With the proud business coaching of Many Rivers Australia and structural support from Indigenous Business Australia, our process remains deeply rooted in community, authenticity, and family resilience. Connection to Country isn't a marketing decoration for our brand—it is the very foundation of how we create.
